Perfect Marriage Revenge

Perfect Marriage Revenge

My K-drama recommendation is Perfect Marriage Revenge starring Sung Hoon, Jung Yoo-min and Jin Ji-hee. The story revolves around Han Yi-joo, played by Jung Yoo-min, the protagonist, who despite not getting any love or care from her family, works hard to gain her family’s love and approval. One day she discovers that her mother is defrauding her clients by selling off imitations of paintings but has framed Yi-joo for the crime. Later that day, she finds out that her husband has filed for divorce since he had feelings for her younger sister. Sad and hurt, she drives absentmindedly and meets with an accident. She survives but is murdered by her mother’s assistant in her hospital bed. She then wakes up to find herself in the past, a year before her car accident and when she was engaged to her future husband. She decides to take revenge on her mother, younger sister and her fiance. She approaches Seo Do-guk, played by Sung Hoon, whom her younger sister had decided to marry. She proposes to him and he agrees to the marriage but on condition that Yi-joo wins the trust of his grandmother.

The plot is really good and the drama is very similar to Marry My Husband. The best thing in this K-drama is the chemistry between the leads. The storyline isn’t boring and the acting was amazing. Overall, if you like revenge, going back in time, faking marriage contracts and the like, then you will love this one. Also, this K-drama has a webtoon comic as well. Two newly released K-dramas I am dying to recommend are Doctor Slump and Flex X Cop. They both satiated my quest for something novel in the K-drama world. Doctor Slump, starring Park Hyung-shik and Park Shin-hye who were previously cast together in the series The Heir, revolves around two hilarious academic rivals in high school, Yeo Jeong-woo and Nam Ha-neul, reuniting during the worst slump in their respective medical careers. They start to find solace in each other and their budding friendship eventually directs them towards an adorable romance. At least this is what is shown in the first few episodes. I am eagerly waiting for the rest.

Flex X Cop is a potpourri of genres like crime, action and comedy. The drama centres around a flamboyant son of an affluent family. Jin Yi-soo (Ahn Bo-hyun) becomes a cop in the department of violent crimes to cover up his accidental stay in prison and to protect his father’s reputation. The character of Jin Yi-soo is quite interesting because he spends time having fun and has playful adventures but also has the potential to be a brilliant cop. He bears a mysterious past, which he is oblivious to. The drama gets more gripping with different violent cases occurring mysteriously, which he tries to solve with his reluctant friends and teammates.

I’m Not a Robot: AI is creating the maximum buzz in the world and has exciting yet unpredictable prospects for the future. If you are interested in humanoid robots and what they can be capable of, then this series is a must-watch for you. It is a story about a person who is allergic to humans and gets cured by a robot.

W: Reading too many books/novels these days? Engrossed with heartwarming webtoons? Well, what if your favourite characters from these stories or webtoons came to life? This K-drama is a story of two people, a reader and a story character. But the strangest part is the reader can go inside the webtoon whenever the main character is in danger but one day, the protagonist himself comes out of the webtoon just to meet her! If you want to know what happens next and if you are into supernatural, thriller and romance dramas, this one is surely for you.

Night Has Come: High-school students go on a school trip when suddenly the notification of the ‘Mafia’ game pops up on their phones. They think that their phones are malfunctioning when one by one the students start dying mysteriously. They need to complete the game and find the team mafia before all of them get killed. But is the game they are playing real? One of the best survival K-dramas I have ever seen, this is bone-chilling and nerve-racking.

My K-drama recommendation is Daily Dose of Sunshine, which I watched a few days back. The story revolves around a nurse, named Jung Da-eun, with a heart of gold who is transferred from the internal medicine to the psychiatric department and how she tries her best to provide a ray of light to the lives of all those patients who are under her care in her new department. It is a wonderful medical drama in which several important issues of mental health are highlighted with empathy and honesty. It is an emotional, heart-touching show and surely one of the best Korean dramas I have watched in recent times.
