A new teaser of Wicked was dropped by the makers on Monday (IST) on the sidelines of the 77th Tony Awards, giving fans a glimpse of the highly-anticipated big-screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical.
Featuring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, the teaser showcased the duo's impressive vocal talents, particularly in renditions of Wicked’s iconic songs like Popular and Defying Gravity.
“Follow my lead…,” the official handle of the film wrote on X alongside the 30-second teaser.
Directed by Jon M. Chu, Wicked is based on the stage musical of the same name by Holzman and Schwartz. The musical was inspired by Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.
Alongside Erivo as Elphaba and Grande as Glinda the Good Witch, the cast of Wicked includes Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Ethan Slater as Boq, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible and Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard.
The first part of Wicked will hit theaters on November 27 and the second part will follow in December 2025.
