Tanks explode, nuclear weapon threats loom large and machismo-filled patriotism runs high, triggering a chain of events mirroring last year’s Pathaan in the trailer of Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which features Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff as loyal soldiers.
Known for high-octane action films like Sultan (2016) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), Ali Abbas introduces two fearless Indian soldiers Firoz (Akshay) and Rakesh (Tiger) from the Lions Regiment in the three-minute-thirty-two-second-long trailer. The duo perform daring stunts during a volatile mission to apprehend a masked villain (Prithviraj Sukumaran), who has fled to London with a dangerous weapon capable of wreaking havoc.
Dropped by production house Pooja Entertainment on Tuesday, the video also features Sonakshi Sinha as a captive in Sukumaran’s lab and Manushi Chhillar as the officer leading India’s mission.
Kicking off with a menacing voiceover cautioning India about a relentless villain seeking revenge, the trailer shows Sukumaran's masked antagonist arriving via a helicopter to pilfer a package containing the most powerful and perilous weapon ever manufactured by India. Ronit Roy, shown in the role of a senior officer, conveys the antagonist's ultimatum of a mere three days for India. “To catch this psychopath, we need two bigger psychos,” he remarks as the camera shifts to Akshay and Tiger, armed with guns and knives, leaping from a tall building into an action-packed brawl against adversaries.
Apart from showing off their action skills, Akshay and Tiger playfully bicker as they ride horses through a desolate desert. Action scenes featuring upturned cars and loud explosions unfold in all likely and unlikely places including tunnels, laboratories and streets. A showdown unfolds between the masked villain and the two Indian soldiers, concluding with Akshay's declaration, “This ground might be yours, but we are its players.”
The trailer ends on a cliffhanger as it unveils a clash between Bade Miyan (Akshay) and Chote Miyan (Tiger), with the two asserting their old friendship, willing to fight for each other as well as against each other if need be.
A fresh take on the David Dhawan-helmed 1998 film starring Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is produced by Jackky Bhagnani, Vashu Bhagnani and Deepshika Deshmukh.
Bade Miyan Chote Miya will arrive in cinemas on April 10.
