Vishal Bharadwaj keeps Tabu, Ali Fazal and Wamiqa Gabbi in the dark about Khufiya in fun teaser video

Also featuring Ashish Vidyarthi, Azmeri Haque Badhon and Alexx O’Nell, the spy thriller is expected to arrive on Netflix in 2023

Actors Tabu, Ali Fazal and Wamiqa Gabbi playfully plead filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj to divulge some details about his upcoming spy thriller film Khufiya in a fun video dropped by Netflix on Wednesday evening.

The one-minute-11-second teaser begins with a title card showing “Khufiya shoot 12 hours to go…”, followed by Tabu looking at a script filled with thick lines but no text. “What does this mean? The script is ‘khufiya‘ as well as the dialogues,” she says. The clip goes on to show a perplexed Ali Fazal, who is being accused of leaking the script by the filmmaker in mock fury, while

Wamiqa Gabbi is not even allowed to disclose her involvement in the project.

The teaser humorously portrays how the filmmaker and the actors went to great lengths to ensure that no information about the film was leaked to the media by playing with the name of the film which literally translates to — secret. It ends with Vishal reading the script as several mobile phones lie scattered on the table in front of him.

Based on Amar Bhushan's espionage novel Escape to Nowhere, Khufiya’s screenplay is written by Rohan Narula and Vishal Bhardwaj. Apart from Tabu, Ali Fazal and Waniqa Gabbi, it also features Ashish Vidyarthi, Azmeri Haque Badhon and Alexx O'Nell.

The film’s first look was released over a year ago by Netflix in August 2022.

Though Khufiya is expected to stream on Netflix sometime in 2023, the makers are yet to announce the date.
