Team India cricketer Virat Kohli recreated the iconic arms-stretched-out pose of actor Shah Rukh Khan as he lip-synced and grooved to the Jawan song Chaleya during the India vs South Africa World Cup match at Eden Gardens on Sunday, leaving spectators thoroughly entertained.
Virat, who turned 35 on Sunday, scored his 49th ODI century in the match, helping India post a challenging total and win the match by a huge margin.
While Virat was fielding at first slip, Arijit Singh’s Chaleya was played on the speakers in the background which prompted the cricketer to sing along and replicate Shah Rukh’s moves from the music video. The audience broke into a roar and cheered him on.
The video of Virat’s dance went viral on social media, with several fan pages sharing it on X, Facebook and Instagram.
“Birthday Boy #ViratKohli vibing to #Chaleya in the stadium and striking an iconic SRK pose,” a fan page of Shah Rukh Khan wrote, sharing the video on X (formerly Twitter).
Netflix posted a still from a recent Jawan promo video to mark Shah Rukh’s 58th birthday. “When one King predicted another King’s innings @imVkohli👑,” the streamer wrote.
Jawan director Atlee reshared a post shared by Thalapathy Films on X about Virat’s dance and performance on the cricket field. “Omg ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” he wrote in the caption.
Virat’s wife, actress Anushka Sharma, shared a picture of him holding his cricket bat up in the air after his big win. “Apne birthday pe khud ko present,” she captioned the post on her Instagram story.
