Emmy-winning stand-up comedian Vir Das is set to team up with Netflix for a new comedy special, the streamer announced on Wednesday.
The globally celebrated comedian had earlier announced that he will film his latest show on October 19 at the DOME NSCI SVP Stadium in Mumbai.
“It’s official! After winning hearts, smiles and an International Emmy, Vir Das is coming back to Netflix with an exciting comedy special and we're here for it ,” Netflix wrote on social media.
In 2023, Das achieved a major milestone by winning the prestigious International Emmy Award for Best Comedy Series for his Netflix special, Vir Das: Landing, which showcased his keen observational comedy, offering a unique perspective on global cultural dynamics. This award not only solidified his place on the international stage but also paved the way for him to make history again as the host of the International Emmy Awards ceremony in 2024.
This new special will mark Das’s fourth collaboration with Netflix. His first, Abroad Understanding, introduced his humour to audiences worldwide, followed by Losing It and For India, each delivering his trademark mix of insight and wit with a focus on cultural identity and shared human experiences.
The 45-year-old comedian and actor has gained recognition not only for his stand-up comedy but also for his work in Bollywood, where he’s starred in hits like Delhi Belly, Go Goa Gone, and Badmaash Company. His latest role as a TRP-chasing news anchor, Satyajit Sen, in the series Call Me Bae on Prime Video, has also received critical acclaim.
Das’s last tour, MindFool, was a massive success, covering over 15 cities and 20 shows across India in 2023.
