Vin Diesel-Jason Momoa’s Fast X inches towards Rs 100-crore mark in India, collects over USD 500 million worldwide

Directed by Louis Leterrier, the 10th instalment in the Fast and Furious franchise earned Rs 93.9 crore in 11 days at the Indian box office

Vin Diesel-starrer Fast X is on course to enter the Rs 100-crore club at the Indian box office, amassing Rs 93.9 crore nett in 11 days since the film’s release on May 18, according to box office records. The action saga has breached the USD 500-million mark worldwide.

Directed by Louis Leterrier, the 10th instalment in the Fast and Furious franchise earned Rs 3.3 crore nett on its second Friday in theatres, followed by Rs 10.9 crore nett over the second weekend. Alongside Vin Diesel, Fast X features Jason Momoa, Michelle Rodriguez, Sung Kang, John Cena, Brie Larson and Hellen Mirren in key roles.

The action thriller is doing brisk business at the global box office too, raking in USD 512.9 million worldwide. It earned USD 112.9 million at the US box office and USD 399.3 million internationally, resulting in an impressive total collection of USD 512.9 million. Fast X has emerged as the fifth film in the franchise to cross the USD 500-million mark.

Fast X has become the third-highest grossing movie of 2023 worldwide. The Super Mario Bros. Movie (USD 1.278 billion) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (USD 723 million) occupy the top two positions, respectively.

Meanwhile, Walt Disney Pictures' The Little Mermaid, which hit the theatres on May 26, amassed USD 185.8 million at the global box office on its opening weekend. The film reported earnings worth USD 117.5 million in the US market and USD 68.3 million internationally. The live-action musical collected nearly Rs 3.3 crore nett in India during the same period.
