12th Fail star Vikrant Massey’s next film The Sabarmati Report, also starring Raashii Khanna, will release theatrically on May 3, the makers announced via Instagram on Monday.
“Get ready to unfold history with an untold story - The Sabarmati Report - a riveting journey into the 2002 incident that left an indelible mark on the entire nation. In cinemas on 3rd May, 2024,” production house Balaji Motion Pictures wrote alongside a video carrying a layout of a newspaper article to provide details about the cast and crew of the upcoming film.
Directed by Ranjan Chandel, The Sabarmati Report will also feature Jawan actress Ridhi Dogra in a key role.
While Vikrant basks in the accolades for his portrayal of IPS Manoj Kumar Sharma in the Vidhu Vinod Chopra-helmed biopic 12th Fail, Raashii is riding high on the success of the Amazon Prime Video series Farzi, in which she shared screen space with Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi and Kay Kay Menon.
The video revealing the release date was also shared by all the lead actors of the film.
The Sabarmati Report follows the real-life event that touched off the Gujarat riots of 2002. After 59 people returning from Ayodhya were killed by a mob that set a coach of the Sabarmati Express train on fire, the nation witnessed a wave of communal violence.
The film will be jointly produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa Kapoor, Amul V Mohan and Anshul Mohan.
