Vijay Varma, Dia Mirza, Naseeruddin Shah attend IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack success party

The cast and crew of Netflix’s thriller series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack — including Vijay Varma, Dia Mirza, Naseeruddin Shah and Patralekha — gathered on Monday to celebrate the show’s success. Also in attendance were actors Rajkummar Rao and Huma Qureshi.

Actor Vijay Varma, who played Captain Sharan Dev, the pilot-in-command of IC 814 in the series, posed alongside the show’s director Anubhav Sinha and Netflix India’s content head Monica Shergill. All of them made an aviation sign with their hands as a nod to the show’s premise.

The director was engrossed in a conversation with actor Naseeruddin Shah. Naseeruddin has played Cabinet Secretary Vinay Kaul in the series.

Vijay Varma was captured in a candid conversation with his co-actor Rajiv Thakur and writer of the series, Trishant Srivastava, at the event.

Actress Patralekha, who plays the role of Air Hostess Indrani, attended the party with her husband, actor Rajkummar Rao.

Patralekha and Rajkummar were found talking to veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah.

Actress Huma Qureshi posed for a picture with Rajkummar, Patralekha and Vijay at the event.

Dia Miraz, who portrayed newspaper editor Shalani Chandra in the series, turned heads with her chic black ensemble and understated nude makeup.

The cast and crew of the series celebrated its success with a cake-cutting ceremony.

Vijay Varma penned a heartfelt note following the event — “We celebrated IC814 with the crew last night. Life got busy after release and with such an elaborate cast n crew working in different parts of the world.. we didn’t get a chance to share our regards for each other and the immense love we had received from the audience. Raising a toast to this incredible crew. Best in the business.”

Released on August 29, the six-episode series is based on the true events of the 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814. The series also stars Pankaj Kapur, Arvind Swamy, Kumud Mishra, Manoj Pahwa and Anupam Tripathi.
