Actor Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming film Maharaja, also starring Anurag Kashyap, will hit theatres on June 14, he announced on Wednesday, dropping a new poster featuring the cast.
“#MaharajaFromJune14. Written & directed by @Dir_Nithilan,” the 46-year-old actor wrote alongside a poster of the film on Instagram.
The poster features a bearded Vijay with wounds on his cheek. Pitted against him in the frame is Anurag Kashyap’s antagonist. Mamta Mohandas can be seen with a confident look on her face.
Recently, a trailer for the film was dropped by the makers in which Vijay was shown as an ordinary barber on a mission to get his “Lakshmi” back from Anurag’s character. At the end of the video, we got a glimpse of Anurag turning around to face Vijay.
Maharaja also stars Bharathiraja, Natarajan Subramaniam, Singampuli and Kalki. The film is directed by Nithilan Saminathan, and produced by Sudhan Sundaram and Jagadish Palanisamy. Ajaneesh Loknath has served as the film’s music composer.
Vijay was last seen in Sriram Raghavan’s neo-noir mystery thriller Merry Christmas alongside Katrina Kaif. Based on a French novel Le Monte-charge by Frédéric Dard, the film was shot in both Hindi and Tamil.
The actor has Aarumugakumar’s upcoming film Ace in the pipeline apart from Maharaja.
Filmmaker Nithilan Saminathan is known for the 2017 film Kurangu Bommai starring Delna Davis, P Bharathiraja and Vidharth Subramanian.
