Actor Vijay Sethupathi is set to host reality show Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8 following Kamal Haasan’s decision to step down from the role, shows a new promo video dropped by the makers.
In the video, Sethupathi can be seen donning a suit as he prepares to host the popular reality series.
The official handle of Star Vijay, the channel airing the reality show, shared the news on social media with the caption “Vandhaachu Pudhu Bigg Boss” which translates to ‘The new Bigg Boss has arrived’.
Sethupathi’s entry into the hosting role comes after Kamal Haasan announced his break from the show. In a statement issued last month, Haasan explained that after seven seasons of hosting Bigg Boss Tamil, he is stepping down due to his commitments to multiple film projects.
The veteran actor also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the audience for their support during his time as host.
Previously, Silambarasan TR had stepped in to host the OTT version of Bigg Boss Tamil while Haasan was occupied with the filming of Vikram.
On the work front, Vijay Sethupathi was last seen in Nithilan Swaminathan’s Maharaja. Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan, who was last seen in Indian 2, is currently filming Thug Life with Mani Ratnam.
