The Family Star actor Vijay Deverakonda has shared a video on social media, paying tribute to his father Govardhan Rao, whom he calls the ‘star’ of his family and ‘the man he made the movie for’.
“My hero. My Star. Life is full of highs and lows :) and I do not know what it holds in store. But i work everyday to make you proud and happy. I love you my Superstar,” wrote Vijay alongside the montage on Thursday.
The video provides a glimpse into the moments the actor has spent with his father since his childhood. Beginning with his father’s portrait, the video shifts to little Vijay sitting on his father’s shoulders. “Without you I wouldn’t be where I am today,” writes Vijay alongside the video capturing fond childhood memories including that of a birthday celebration.
“From my first steps as a baby, till every step I take today I know you are standing behind me and watching over me,” added Vijay, expressing his gratitude for “his first best friend, his first hero and his strength”.
Family portraits featuring Vijay’s mother Madhavi and brother Anand Deverakonda also form a part of the montage. “You struggled so I never have to, you sacrificed your happiness so I can be happy,” the Geetha Govindam actor captions one of the pictures, acknowledging the significant role his father has played in his success.
“If I ever hurt you or let you down, forgive me...Know that I love you. Making you proud will be my biggest success. And you will be forever my Family Star,” Vijay signs off. The video ends with pictures of him embracing his father.
Directed by Parasuram Petla, The Family Star features Mrunal Thakur as Vijay’s romantic interest. In the movie, Vijay plays Govardhan, a middle-class man whose love for his tenant Indhu (Mrunal) has to overcome many challenges before it can be fulfilled. The Family Star features Abhinaya, Vasuki, Rohini Hattangadi and Ravi Babu in supporting roles. Besides, Animal actress Rashmika Mandanna makes a cameo appearance in the movie.
“We made #FamilyStar to celebrate the stars in our lives. I dedicate this movie to every Man/Woman/Boy/Girl fighting for their family,” Vijay wrote in his Instagram post ahead of the family drama’s theatrical release today.
