Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri-starrer Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video remained ahead of Alia Bhatt’s action thriller Jigra at the domestic box office on their first weekend in theatres, according to latest trade reports released on Monday.
According to industry data-tracking portal Sacnilk, the Raaj Shaandilyaa-directed comedy film opened with a collection of Rs 5.5 crore nett on Day 1. The collections rose to Rs 6.9 crore nett on Saturday, and dipped to Rs 6.25 crore nett on Sunday, bringing its total to Rs 18.65 crore nett.
Produced by T-Series Films, Balaji Motion Pictures, Wakaoo Films, and Kathavachak Films, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video follows Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) and Vidya (Triptii Dimri) on a mission to retrieve a lost ‘suhagraat CD’ in Rishikesh. The cast also includes Vijay Raaz, Mallika Sherawat and Archana Puran Singh.
Alia Bhatt’s Jigra, directed by Vasan Bala, has earned Rs 16.64 crore nett so far. The jail break thriller opened with a collection of Rs 4.55 crore nett on Day 1, followed by Rs 6.58 crore nett on Saturday. It collected Rs 5.51 crore nett on its third day.
Produced by Dharma Productions and Eternal Sunshine Productions, Jigra features Alia as Satya, who seeks to save her brother Ankur (Vedang Raina) from a wrongful death sentence in the fictional country of Hanshi Dao. The film also stars Manoj Pahwa and Rahul Ravindran.
