Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video marginally ahead of Jigra after Week 1

The Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri-starrer comedy film has earned Rs 26.96 crore nett, while Alia Bhatt’s jail break thriller collected Rs 22.45 crore nett

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video; Jigra

Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri-starrer Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video remained marginally ahead of Alia Bhatt’s jailbreak thriller Jigra at the domestic box office at the end of their first week in theatres.

According to industry data-tracking portal Sacnilk, the Raaj Shaandilyaa-directed comedy film opened with a collection of Rs 5.5 crore nett on Day 1. The earnings rose to Rs 6.9 crore nett on Saturday and dipped to Rs 6.25 crore nett on Sunday. Between Monday and Thursday, the film minted Rs 8.15 crore nett, taking the total collection so far to Rs 26.95 crore nett.

Produced by T-Series Films, Balaji Motion Pictures, Wakaoo Films, and Kathavachak Films, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video follows Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) and Vidya (Triptii Dimri) on a mission to retrieve a lost ‘suhagraat CD’ in Rishikesh. The cast also includes Vijay Raaz, Mallika Sherawat and Archana Puran Singh.

On the other hand, Alia Bhatt-starrer Jigra, directed by Vasan Bala, opened with a collection of Rs 4.55 crore nett on Day 1, followed by Rs 6.58 crore nett on Saturday and Rs 5.51 crore nett on Sunday. The film raked in Rs 5.85 crore nett between Monday and Thursday, taking the total earnings to Rs 22.45 crore nett.

Produced by Dharma Productions and Eternal Sunshine Productions, Jigra features Alia as Satya, who is on a mission to save her brother Ankur (Vedang Raina), currently incarcerated in a prison in the fictional country of Hanshi Dao. The film also stars Manoj Pahwa and Rahul Ravindran.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Vettaiyan has ended its first week of theatrical run with a collection of Rs 122 crore nett in India. The Tamil version contributed Rs 105 crore nett, while the Hindi version contributed Rs 3.2 crore nett. The Telugu version brought in Rs 13.5 crore nett.

The TJ Gnanavel-directed cop thriller has grossed Rs 215 crore nett worldwide, as per Sacnilk.
