‘This one’s truly your best work till date’ — Vicky Kaushal has written in a heartfelt note addressed to wife Katrina Kaif, talking about the latter’s performance in Merry Christmas that hit the theatres on January 12.

Vicky, who himself received plaudits for his performance in Meghna Gulzar’s Sam Bahadur and Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki, posted the note alongside a still of Katrina and a poster of the film on social media.

“#MerryChristmas everyone! So freaking proud of you, love for how beautifully you have surrendered yourself to Sriram Sir’s masterful storytelling and to the complexities of ‘Maria’… her rawness, her mystery, her magic… all done with such honesty and nuance,” the 35-year-old actor analysed Katrina’s performance in the Sriram Raghavan-helmed thriller.

Vicky also lauded Katrina’s co-star Vijay Sethupathi’s performance in the film, stating that he feels “pure joy” to see the actor infusing his characters with his “childlike innocence”. “#VijaySethupati Sir… don’t know how you bring that childlike innocence in your characters but it’s pure joy to watch you bring Albert alive,” he wrote in the note.

Also praising other cast members like Radhika Apte, Sanjay Kapoor, Ramesh Taurani, Vinay Pathak, Vicky wrote, “How you guys are going to make people jingle all the way when they watch the film… especially that end! Go enjoy this thrilling fun ride in theatres near you!”

Merry Christmas revolves around two strangers played by Vijay and Katrina who meet for the first time on Christmas eve. However, things turn into a nightmare once the clock strikes midnight.

Produced by Ramesh Taurani, Sanjay Routray, Jaya Taurani and Kewal Garg under the banner of Matchbox Pictures, Merry Christmas arrived in theatres on January 12 in both Hindi and Tamil.
