Venom: The Last Dance mints nearly Rs 50 crore at the end Week 1 in India

The third instalment in Sony’s Venom franchise, starring Tom Hardy, has collected Rs 44.42 crore nett in India so far

Tom Hardy-starrer Venom: The Last Dance, the third instalment in Sony’s Venom franchise, has delivered a powerhouse performance over its extended first week at the Indian box office, amassing Rs 44.42 crore nett by Day 8 (Thursday), according to industry data-tracking portal Sacnilk.

Venom 3 began its box office journey in India with a collection of Rs 4.65 crore nett on Day 1, followed by Rs 7.85 crore nett on Day 2. The superhero movie minted Rs 19.35 crore nett on Saturday and Sunday, followed by Rs 12.57 crore nett from Monday to Thursday.

The Tom Hardy-starrer movie has emerged as the third-highest Week 1 grosser among Hollywood movies in India this year. Ryan Reynolds-Hugh Jackman-starrer Deadpool and Wolverine occupies the top position with Rs 89.65 crore nett, followed by Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (Rs 58.25 crore nett).

The Last Dance explores an emotional arc for Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and his alien symbiote, Venom, who face relentless threats from both human and extraterrestrial forces. The duo are forced to contemplate a decision that could permanently disrupt their symbiotic relationship. The movie features an ensemble cast alongside Hardy, including Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Cristo Fernández, Peggy Lu and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

So far, Venom: The Last Dance did not face any competitors at the Indian box office. However, the Diwali weekend ushers in a lineup of major Bollywood releases — Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again. It remains to be seen if the movie is able to sustain its current momentum.

Globally, The Last Dance has collected USD 184 million, of which USD 61 million came from the US box office, while the international markets contributed USD 123 million.
