On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, Yash Raj Films’ Veer-Zaara, directed by Yash Chopra, is set to re-release internationally on 600 screens today. The film will play for the first time ever in Saudi Arabia, Oman and Qatar.
The 2004 film, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukerji, along with Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini and Manoj Bajpayee, will re-release in the US, UAE, UK, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Ireland, Germany, Austria, France, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Singapore, Malaysia and South Africa. The re-release prints of Veer-Zaara will include the deleted song Yeh hum aa gaye hai kahaan. It is the first time that the song will be a part of the film.
“Veer-Zaara has a cult following across the globe and as we entered the 20th year of this unanimously loved film, we could sense that the fans wanted to see this love story worldwide. From the chatter on social media to fan requests to our offices globally, we could sense that people were wanting us to take this decision. So, this move by YRF is our hat-tip to the fans of the film,” is the word from Nelson D’Souza, vice-president, international distribution.
Veer-Zaara found record takers when it re-released in India. According to reports, the film earned in excess of Rs 1-crore in India alone when itre-released in September.
