Vedang Raina sang a rendition of the iconic brother-sister song Phoolon Ka Taaro Ka for Vasan Bala’s upcoming thriller Jigra, the 24-year-old actor announced on social media on Tuesday, expressing gratitude to the makers for the opportunity.

“I know the younger me dreamed of this. Thank you @vasanbala for telling me to bring my guitar to the studio (I had no idea what it was for),” Vedang wrote on Instagram, sharing a video that combines throwback clips of him singing with scenes from the teaser trailer of the upcoming thriller.

Vedang, who made his acting debut with Zoya Akhtar’s Netflix film The Archies last year, also thanked the song’s composer, Achint, and the film’s producer, Karan Johar. Vedang made his singing debut with The Archies song Everything is Politics.

The 24-year-old went on to thank his co-star Alia Bhatt, who essays the role of his elder sister in the upcoming film.

“Thank you @karanjohar @aliaabhatt and everyone who’s ever taken a chance on me. Still hard to believe that I got an opportunity to sing a rendition of one of the most iconic songs in Hindi cinema for a @dharmamovies film,” reads Vedang’s note.

The teaser trailer of Jigra, dropped by Dharma Productions on Sunday, shows Alia fighting against all odds to rescue her wrongfully imprisoned brother, played by Vedang. The teaser is set to Vedang’s rendition of the Phoolon Ka Taaro Ka track, originally sung by Lata Mangeshkar for the 1971 movie Hare Rama Hare Krishna.

Last month, Vedang had dedicated the song to his on-screen sister Alia on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan during an Instagram live session. The video of Alia smiling and Vedang strumming his guitar quickly went viral on social media.

Centred on the unyielding bond between siblings, Jigra is the third project under Alia’s home banner Eternal Sunshine Productions after Netflix’s 2022 dark comedy Darlings and the 2024 Amazon Prime Video crime-drama series Poacher.

Jigra marks Alia’s first collaboration with director Vasan Bala, known for thrillers like Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota (2018) and Monica, O My Darling (2022).

Alia, Karan, Apoorva Mehta, Shaheen Bhatt and Somen Mishra are credited as producers on the upcoming project.

Jigra is slated to hit theatres on October 11. The film was earlier scheduled for release on September 27. However, the release date was pushed to avoid a box-office clash with Telugu star Jr NTR's Devara.
