Actor Varun Tej on Wednesday shared a behind-the-scenes video featuring Meenakshi Chaudhary and director Karuna Kumar from the sets of his upcoming period drama Matka.
“Reliving the retro magic with #Matka. Shoot in progress,” the 34-year-old actor wrote alongside the video on Instagram.
In the retro-themed video, Varun sports a black tuxedo and plays a record on a gramophone. He picks up the phone and says the word “promise” in a baritone voice. The subsequent scenes show workers preparing the set to recreate vintage locations of Vizag.
The video also shows production and art designers having discussions with director Karuna about the film’s “world building”. Some scenes were probably shot at a railway station. Towards the end, we can see Varun arriving on the set in a retro avatar, while Meenakshi walks with a spot boy on the set. It ends with the text “shoot in progress” along with a title card.
Fans flooded the comments section with their excitement for the film. “This movie should hit like a (fire emoji),” one of them wrote. “Let's rock it love,” another commented.
The film is currently in its third schedule of production and is being shot at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. “The third schedule of #Matka is progressing in full swing in Hyderabad. Vintage locations of Vizag have been recreated on the magnificent sets at RFC to shoot key moments of the film,” Vyra Entertainments wrote on X.
Also starring Nora Fatehi, Naveen Chandra and P Ravi Shankar, Matka is a biopic of the “Matka” gambler Ratan Khetri.
