Varun Dhawan urges moviegoers not to miss post-credits surprise in Munjya

The actor played a cameo in the post-credits scene of the horror comedy, hinting at a crossover of Bhediya and Munjya in future

Actor Varun Dhawan on Sunday urged moviegoers to sit through the post-credits scene of Munjya, sharing a video that shows him playing a cameo as the central character of his 2022 movie Bhediya.

The video of the post-credits scene featuring Varun’s Bhediya character shows him hiding behind a large rock covered in leaves. Janardan (Abhishek Banerjee) suddenly appears and tosses some clothes towards him. Among them is an underwear of a brand named Munni, a character reference from Munjya.

Sharvari Wagh, who plays the female lead in Munjya, was quick to respond to Varun’s video. “VD!!!! Thank aaaaooooo for adding chaar chand to our #Munjya madness you are the best!!!! ,” she wrote in the comments section.

Released on November 25, 2022, Bhediya was Bollywood’s first creature-comedy film. Directed by Amar Kaushik, Bhediya also featured Kriti Sanon and Deepak Dobriyal in key roles. Both Bhediya and Munjya are part of the supernatural series from Maddock Films, which also includes Stree (2018) and Roohi (2021).

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Munjya features Abhay Verma, Mona Singh and Sathyaraj in pivotal roles. The film is based on the Konkani folklore about ghosts of young Brahmin boys who die within 10 days of their mundan ceremony.

Munjya had a great opening weekend at the box office, minting Rs 20.04 crore nett in three days. The horror comedy had a decent opening on Friday as it managed to earn Rs 4.21 crore nett. The collections almost doubled on Saturday to Rs 7.4 crore nett, followed by Rs 8.43 crore nett on Sunday.
