After a successful run of 10 weeks in theatres, Pariah kickstarts its next leg. Actor Vikram Chatterjee and director Tathagata Mukherjee are ready to pair up once again for Pariah Vol. 2. The tagline goes: “Rise of Kalbhairav” (seen in the poster designed by Swarnava Bera), which indicates a mythological reference in the next volume.
Kalbhairav, an incarnation of Lord Shiva, is a deity with a dog as his divine vahana or vehicle. “We’ll find out the origin of the character of Lubdhok. The movie will travel time, and give insights into the past, present and future, so it has been set across the timeline. We’re addressing the wildlife issues pertinent to our planet now. We’ve broadened the questions of morality and how human domination has swept away wildlife. You can spot a helicopter, machine guns, wolves, and elephants in the poster and the action is way higher in the film. We’ll address issues like poaching, deforestation and the extinction of wildlife altogether. There’ll be new additions to the characters,” said director Tathagata Mukherjee.
The announcement of the second volume has also led to excitement and great anticipation among viewers. A t2 chat with Vikram...

What can we expect in Pariah 2?

There’s a strong mythological connection to it. When Pariah’s first part was being written we had this in mind, and somewhere down the line, the dots had to be connected. However, this time, Pariah 2 is going to address bigger issues related to human relationships with the animal kingdom... human beings who are supposed to be a part of the animal kingdom, their contribution towards how the animal kingdom is shaped and what exactly is happening there.

Why did you decide to do a sequel?

Pariah was always supposed to be a three-part story. The first part was made in a way that left our audience a little curious about what would happen next. We’re yet to disclose what has happened and we’ve started preparing.

How are you preparing for it?

It’s going to be even more challenging for me to get back into shape to play the role. I shot three films after Pariah... in one I was a romantic hero, so I had to break my shape a little for it. My body shape for Pariah wouldn’t have looked good for my other roles. I’ve been told that the action in this movie will be at its peak and I have to work harder for a better structure. I’ve got six months to get into shape and I’m beginning my regime this month. We’ll be shooting in different locations this time. There’s a part that’ll be shot in the hills... action sequences are going to be more thrilling and I’m looking forward to it.
