K-pop boy band TXT member Yeonjun dropped the music video of his debut solo track GGUM on Thursday, garnering close to four lakh views on YouTube in an hour.
Yeonjun fuses hip-hop and electronic sounds in the two-minute-43-second-long music video that shows him sporting dark red hair and going to great lengths to challenge society. The 25-year-old singer-rapper also dons a black jacket over a white t-shirt and black pants, flaunting his dance steps on the road.
Soon, he is seen taking over an ongoing radio show and getting thrown out, symbolising the relentless pressure on artistes to maintain certain standards in the industry. Yeonjun’s thrilling dance choreography at various locations add to the powerful message of the song.
Through the lyrics, Yeonjun conveys that there is no need for influential people in the industry to be humble to him when he is “on the floor”. He says that he will achieve his goals even though society continues to shackle him. The video ends on a quirky note, with a pink chewing gum bubbling up and taking over the city.
Directed by Hyein Lee, the music video is backed by the production house NEWYEAR.
Yeonjun also recently released an original track Boyfriend for Moon Sang Min and Shin Hyun Been’s ongoing romcom Cinderella on September 1.
