Warrior Sigrid embarks on a journey to exact revenge on the Norse god Thor, leading to an epic clash between mortals and immortals in the first teaser of Zack Snyder’s upcoming Netflix animated series Twilight of the Gods.

Dropped by the streamer on Wednesday, the 37-second-long teaser begins with a character welcoming soldiers to the entrance of Hel, the realm of the dead in Norse mythology. In the next scene, we see a wrecked ship which might depict Naglfar, a huge ship made from the fingernails and toenails of the dead which is said to have played a crucial role during Ragnarök.

“We fear no gods,” a vengeful Sigrid says, who slays enemies with ease. “They want war, I will give it to them,” she says in another scene, before going on to hack men on the battle ground.

According to Netflix, Twilight of the Gods revolves around Sigrid, an iron-willed warrior, who saves the mortal king Leif on a battlefield. Leif falls in love with Sigrid and marries her. However, on their wedding night, they survive a wrath of terror from Thor, following which they set on a mission to avenge their loss against all odds.

“This heroic story of love, loss, and revenge, is a journey to hell and beyond … across fantastical lands, battlefields fierce and bloody, and wars waged against deities and demons,” reads a snippet from Netflix’s official synopsis of the series.

“Gods killing Gods would go unnoticed, but a mortal, that would remake the world. September 19, only on Netflix,” Snyder wrote on X alongside the teaser.

While Sylvia Hoeks has voiced Sigrid in the series, Stuart Martin has lent his voice to Leif. Pilou Asbæk, on the other hand, voices Thor.

The voice cast also includes Rahul Kohli as Egill, Paterson Joseph as Loki, Jamie Clayton as The Seid-Kona, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen as Hervor, Kristofer Hivju as Andvari, Thea Sofie Loch Næss as Thyra, John Noble as Odin and Peter Stormare as Ulfr.

Twilight of the Gods is co-created by Jay Oliva and Eric Carrasco. Snyder, Jay Oliva, Tim Divar, Andrew Tamandl and David Hartman will all be directing the episodes.

Snyder and Wesley Coller’s production company’s new venture Stone Quarry Animation is the studio behind Twilight of the Gods. Paris-based Xilam Animation is also assisting Snyder’s animation team.

Twilight of the Gods is slated to hit Netflix on September 19.
