Amazon Studios has reportedly roped in Emmy-winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge to write a TV series as part of a potential Tomb Raider universe that would span television, film and games. The studio is yet to confirm the news.

According to Deadline, the TV series is in the works and Waller-Bridge — the creator of Fleabag and Killing Eve and writer of No Time To Die and Solo: A Star Wars Story — is on it. The actress-writer-producer might also be involved in a potential movie reboot.

As per the Deadline report, Waller-Bridge does not plan on starring in the TV adaptation of the property. Originally a video game, Tomb Raider was adapted into a film in 2001 – Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, directed by Simon West — starring Angelina Jolie as the adventurous archaeologist Lara Croft.

The sequel Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, directed by Jan de Bont also featuring Jolie, came two years later. Alicia Vikander filled Jolie’s shoes for the 2018 reboot of the film, Tomb Raider, directed by Roar Uthaug.

The iconic character of Lara Croft has also been voiced by actresses including Camilla Luddington, Keeley Hawes and Minnie Driver in a slew of video games. Hayley Atwell brought the character to life in a Netflix anime series.

Apart from Tomb Raider, Waller-Bridge is also developing Sign Here for Amazon Studios. It is an adaptation of Claudia Lux’s book of the same name, with the author attached to write the script.

Waller-Bridge will next be seen starring opposite Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones 5 as the famous archaeologist’s sidekick.
