Tom Hardy-starrer Venom: The Last Dance, the latest entry in Sony Pictures’ Venom franchise, had a solid opening in India, earning Rs 31.15 crore nett on its first weekend, as per trade figures with industry data-tracking portal Sacnilk.
Venom: The Last Dance began its Indian box-office run with Rs 4.65 crore nett from paid previews on Thursday. The momentum continued on the weekend, with earnings of Rs 7.5 crore nett on Friday, Rs 9.5 crore nett on Saturday and a peak of Rs 9.5 crore nett on Sunday.
Venom’s Indian success is partly attributed to the wide reach of its dubbed versions in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil, which accounted for nearly 60 per cent of the total weekend collections.
Venom: The Last Dance will soon face competition from Diwali releases such as Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, both of which are expected to draw large crowds during the holiday season.
Venom: The Last Dance debuted in the US with a collection of USD 22 million on Friday, including preview screenings. This falls short of the first-day collections of its predecessors. Venom (2018) premiered with USD 32 million and Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) earned USD 37 million on its opening day.
Despite the slower start, Venom: The Last Dance minted USD 175 million at the global box office on the first weekend, with the US market contributing USD 51 million and the remaining USD 124 million coming from the international markets.
