Tom Cruise has shared more behind-the-scenes footage from Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, showcasing his dilemma before performing a high-stake motorcycle stunt and how he overcame it during the shoot of the latest instalment in the spy thriller franchise.
The 60-year-old actor took to Twitter to share the footage, which includes the new death-defying stunt. “Why are we doing this? Because it is Mission: Impossible,” he wrote in the caption.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One director Christopher McQuarrie joins Cruise in the 31-second-long video to discuss the dangerous stunt that was about to be shot. At one point, Cruise exclaims, “What am I doing, this is a terrible idea,” but quickly changes his tune, declaring, “When do we start?”
The behind-the-scenes footage then transitions to the moment as Cruise performs the daring stunt, plunging off the cliff on his motorcycle. The clip concludes with the director and actor looking worried and still unsure about the stunt.
Previously in December 2022, Paramount Pictures shared an extended behind-the-scenes video of Cruise performing the stunt, which is termed “the biggest stunt in cinema history” on YouTube.
The seventh and penultimate instalment of the Mission Impossible franchise, which is scheduled to arrive in theatres on July 12, also featuresSimon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Henry Czerny, Vanessa Kirby, Frederick Schmidt, Hayley Atwell and Mark Gatiss.
Tom Cruise will reprise his role as daredevil Impossible Missions Force (IMF) spy Ethan Hunt. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is a collaborative effort by Paramount Pictures, TC Productions, and Skydance.
