Back as daredevil IMF agent Ethan Hunt, Tom Cruise risks his life for another seemingly improbable assignment in the action-packed trailer of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, the seventh and possibly the penultimate instalment of his spy action film series Mission Impossible.

Released by Paramount Pictures on Wednesday evening, the two-minute-28-second-long trailer begins with the hint Ethan and his team are up against something really sinister this time. We also see the return of several fascinating characters from the franchise’s past, including Henry Czerny as Eugene Kittridge and Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell. The trailer also introduces the new villain played by Esai Morales.

The clip then shows agent Kittridge issuing a warning at Ethan as he and his team attempt to track down a terrifying weapon threatening to destroy humanity. Even though the action-heavy trailer didn’t reveal any key details, it promises to be a high-octane ride with some jaw-dropping action set pieces in land, water and air. Tom Cruise’s death-defying bike jump from the edge of a cliff takes centre stage in the closing moments of the trailer.

Dead Reckoning Part Two, believed to be Cruise’s final appearance as Ethan Hunt, is slated to be released on June 28, 2024.
