Todd Phillips unwrapped a special Christmas gift for fans, treating them to fresh photos of Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn and Joaquin Phoenix as Joker from his upcoming directorial Joker: Folie à Deux.
“Wishing everyone a happy holiday and a beautiful new year,” Phillips wrote in his Instagram post, sharing two snapshots from the sets of the highly-anticipated sequel to his 2019 film Joker.
The first photo features Phoenix’s Joker behind bars and the second image shows Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn staring at the imprisoned Batman villain. Phoenix dons the signature Joker makeup in both photos.
While Phoenix is set to reprise his Oscar-winning role in Joker: Folie à Deux, Lady Gaga steps into the shoes of Harley Quinn, a character previously portrayed by Margot Robbie in films like Suicide Squad (2016), Birds of Prey (2020) and The Suicide Squad (2021).
Joker: Folie à Deux, part of DC Elseworlds, is scheduled to make its premiere on October 4, 2024.
Joining Phoenix and Lady Gaga in the cast are Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson and Zazie Beetz.
