Filmmaker Todd Phillips has shared two new photos of Joaquin Phoenix as Joker and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn to celebrate the official filming wrap of his upcoming film Joker: Folie à Deux.
The Hangover director took to Instagram to share the new images from the upcoming film, which also features Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland and Harry Lawtey in undisclosed roles. “That’s a wrap. Thanks to these two (+ the entire cast) and the BEST crew that the film industry has to offer. From top to bottom. Gonna crawl into a cave now (edit room) and put it all together,” the caption reads.
Lady Gaga also shared the image of her Harley Quinn in full make-up on Instagram. “That’s a wrap ❤️🔥 🎬🃏 X, Harleen,” she wrote.
Gaga’s version of the former psychiatrist-turned-psychotic villain, who falls in love with Joker, sports a black blazer accompanied by messy blonde hair and smeared makeup.
Earlier, the 52-year-old filmmaker had posted a number of photos from the set throughout the production, beginning with a mysterious shot of Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck a..k.a Joker being shaved by a law enforcement official. The image was captioned, “Day 1. Our boy. #joker”
He had also shared a video on Instagram to announce the release date of Joker: Folie à Deux. He wrote, “Cheek to Cheek. 10.04.24.”
Joker: Folie à Deux is the sequel to 2019’s psychological thriller film Joker based on the DC Comics character. The film received rave reviews from critics and grossed over USD 1 billion at the global box office.
Joker premiered at the 76th Venice International Film Festival on August 31, 2019, where it won the Golden Lion. For his performance as the Joker, Joaquin Phoenix won the best actor Oscar at the 92nd Academy Awards.
