The saga continues as award-winning filmmaker Denis Villeneuve embarks on Dune: Part Two, the next chapter of Frank Herbert’s celebrated novel Dune, comprising an expanded and all-star international ensemble cast. The film, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, is the highly anticipated follow-up to 2021’s six-time Academy Award-winning feature film Dune.
The big-screen epic continues with Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Lea Seydoux, Souheila Yacoub, Stellan Skarsgard, Charlotte Rampling and Javier Bardem.
Back to reprise her character of Chani — a powerful Fremen warrior skilled at survival in the harsh desert dunes of Arrakis — is the stunning Zendaya. Talking about reuniting with her on-screen love Paul aka Timothee Chalamet, she says: “Timothee and I have become very close... he is like my brother, someone you know you are going to be friends with for a very long time. I hope we end up like Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem, who sit around reminiscing about the films they have done together and the experiences they have had. It was sometimes hard, with long days in the desert, and I was grateful to have someone to laugh with and have a good time with.”
Responding to his co-star, Chalamet says: “Zendaya is strong, like Chani, in many ways. We only had a couple of days working together on the first film but we became quite close friends after that. The friendship that had grown between the two films helped us grow Paul and Chani for this one. It was a wonderful experience to get to work with the actor she has become — she is firing on all cylinders! She was a real partner in crime and I am grateful we had such a great experience.”
Dune:Part Two will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a path of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he tries to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee. The film will release on March 1 worldwide and on IMAX screens on February 29.
