The worst superhero movie I have watched is Thunder Force (2021), directed by Ben Falcone, featuring Melissa McCarthy, Octavia Spencer, Bobby Cannavale and others. However, despite its promising lineup, the film presents itself as a bland and unfunny comedy, failing to capitalise on the talents of its leading actresses. The film’s attempts at comedy leave viewers irritated. From McCarthy’s forced floss dance to repetitive fat jokes, the film’s humour feels stale.
Ben Falcone’s direction fails to elevate the material, leaving McCarthy and Spencer, longtime friends in real life, struggling to find comedic chemistry on screen. The characters they portray feel recycled and uninspired, lacking the depth and nuance needed to engage audiences. Even the supporting cast, including Bateman and Leo, are left floundering in underdeveloped roles, contributing little to the overall narrative.
However, the crux of Thunder Force’s problems lies in its script and direction. Its portrayal of superhero tropes feels misguided and uninformed, further alienating audiences from the viewing experience. The action sequences are poorly executed, detracting from any potential excitement the film might offer. While McCarthy and Spencer deserve better projects that challenge their abilities, Falcone’s direction leaves much to be desired. (Which is the worst superhero film you have watched?... February 17)

The worst superhero film I have watched is Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. The 1987 film directed by Sidney J. Furie and starring Christopher Reeve, Gene Hackman, Mariel Hemingway and Jackie Cooper, according to me, is the most boring, uninteresting and dull movie of the Superman series and surely a disgrace to the franchise. The movie isn’t worth watching.
