Benedict Cumberbatch's rich bachelor learns about a guru, played by Ben Kingsley, who can see without using his eyes and sets out to master the skill in a bid to make money through gambling in the trailer of Wes Anderson’s short film The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar
Dropped by Netflix on Thursday evening, the one-minute-18-second-long trailer introduces Henry Sugar (Cumberbatch), a 41-year-old rich bachelor who learns about a guru who can see without eyes. Then we see Kingsley’s character demonstrating his power in a hospital. The clip reveals Sugar’s intention to make money through gambling with the aid of the guru’s power. The trailer ends with Ralph Fiennes’s voiceover, “His name was Henry Sugar. I think people ought to know about what he has done for the world.”

“Wes Anderson takes you into the world of The Wonderful Story Of Henry Sugar — premiering September 27,” wrote Netflix on X alongside the trailer, which is replete with Anderson’s signature style including intricate set designs, pastel-coloured palettes and direct addresses to the camera.
Based on Roald Dahl's short story of the same name from the 1977 collection The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More, the short film also features Dev Patel and Richard Ayoade. It is the first of a four-part series of short films adapted from Dahl's short stories.
The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar will be streaming on Netflix from September 27.
