Dakota Fanning’s journey through an Irish woodland takes a sinister turn in the trailer of The Watchers, which marks the directorial debut of Ishana Night Shyamalan with a cinematic adaptation of A.M. Shine’s eponymous novel.
Clocking in at nearly three minutes, the trailer was dropped by the makers on Monday. It promises an intense experience, gripping viewers with suspenseful scenes set amidst eerie Irish forests. Dakota Fanning plays Mina, a 28-year-old whose idyllic journey through an Irish woodland suddenly becomes full of eerie sensations.
From serene natural landscapes, Mina finds herself thrust into a frantic escape from an unseen menace. Seeking refuge in a desolate bunker, she discovers it to be more akin to a prison.
Within this mysterious bunker, Mina and her companions (portrayed by Georgina Campbell, Oliver Finnegan and Olwen Fouéré) become unwitting performers for a shadowy audience of mysterious creatures. Their captors’ intentions remain shrouded in mystery, leaving them to ponder their fate. One thing is certain: escape is not an option.
Bankrolled by M. Night Shyamalan, father of Ishana, The Watchers is set to arrive in theaters on June 14.
