Dakota Fanning plays an artist who is haunted by invisible creatures in the middle of an untouched Irish forest in the teaser of The Watchers, an upcoming psychological horror film by M Night Shyamalan’s daughter Ishana.
“You can’t see them, but they see everything,” reads the tagline of the two-minute-three-second-long video teaser, dropped by Warner Bros. Pictures on Tuesday night. In the video, we see Fanning sitting with three strangers inside a shelter in the middle of an Irish forest and listening to classical music. Things seem serene until Fanning’s Mina suddenly hears eerie sounds from the “other side”.
A flashback then reveals Mina panting heavily after being stranded in the middle of the forest. When she comes across the shelter and asks one of the eldest inhabitants about their identity. “We are just like you…lost,” says the woman named Madeline.
The teaser ends with Mina hearing ominous sounds inside the shelter and Madeline informing her that the creatures will be very “interested” in someone new.
The Watchers is Ishana’s debut directorial, produced by her father. M Night Shyamalan, who is known for helming films like The Sixth Sense (1999), Unbreakable (2000) and Signs (2002). It also stars Barbarian actress Georgina Campbell, Oliver Finnegan and Olwen Fouere.
Co-produced by Ashwin Rajan and Nimitt Mankad, The Watchers is slated to release in theatres on June 7.
