After losing their superpowers, the Hargreeves siblings deal with the challenge of living a normal life in the human world in the trailer of the fourth and final season of Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy, dropped by the streamer on Thursday.

Set to Europe’s 1986 song The Final Countdown, the two-minute-seven-second-long trailer shows the Hargreeves navigating a new timeline amid chaos and bickering while trying to understand the importance of familial bonds. It begins with the manipulative family patriarch Reginald Hagreeves’s (Colm Feore) dialogue from Season 1 where he introduced the siblings. In the subsequent scenes, we see the family embarking on a rescue mission.

The rest of the scenes in the trailer give a glimpse of Reginald, who is at his full potential in the upcoming season. At the end of the video, Ben Hargreeves uses his octopus-like tentacles during an action sequence, hinting at some of the family members retaining their powers.

“Last season ended with a major twist: There’s a new timeline dictated by the family patriarch, Reginald (Colm Feore), and the siblings no longer have their powers. That’s not the only oddity in this timeline, where the stakes are higher than ever before — there are new enemies who want to see them wiped from existence, but how do they face their enemies without their powers? And will the siblings ever get them back,” reads the synopsis of the upcoming season on Netflix’s Tudum.

The Umbrella Academy Season 4 stars Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore. Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, and David Cross are also set to join the final season.

“[It’s] really, really packed with classic Umbrella Academy family nonsense and shenanigans that you look forward to,” Emmy Raver-Lampman, who plays Allison Hargreeves in the series, said in a statement.

Based on the comic series of the same name by Gerard Way, The Umbrella Academy premiered in 2019. It follows a group of estranged siblings who embark on a journey to solve the mystery of their father’s death and save the world from an impending apocalypse.
