The Super Mario Bros.

Universal Pictures on Wednesday unveiled the official trailer of its animated movie The Super Mario Bros. Movie, the film adaptation of the popular video game series Super Mario. Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, the film’s voice cast features Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen, Fred Armisen, Sebastian Maniscalco, Charles Martinet and Kevin Michael Richardson.

The trailer introduces us to the familiar characters of the video game. We see our hero, Mario, teaming up with Princess Peach to save the world from Bowser or King Koopa, the evil monster who wants to take over the entire universe with his huge army.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie will hit the theatres on April 7, 2023.

The Rig

The official trailer of Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming Scottish supernatural survival thriller series The Rig came out on Wednesday. Created by David Macpherson, the series is directed by John Strickland and features Iain Glen, Emily Hampshire, Martin Compston, Rochenda Sandall, Owen Teale, Richard Pepple, Mark Bonnar, Calvin Demba, Emun Elliott, Abraham Popoola and Stuart McQuarrie.

The trailer shows the crew of the Kinloch Bravo oil rig, stationed off the Scottish coast in the dangerous waters of the North Sea, fighting for survival as a storm hits the plant with huge waves. There is a strong sense of supernatural element in the show.

The Rig is scheduled to arrive on Amazon Prime Video on January 6, 2023.

The Elephant Whisperers

Netflix dropped the official trailer of its upcoming documentary The Elephant Whisperers. Directed by Kartiki Gonsalves, the film is produced by Guneet Monga and Achin Jain,under the banner of Sikhya Entertainment. Karan Thapliyal and Krish Makhija are the cinematographers of the documentary.

In the trailer, we see Bomman and Bellie, a tribal couple in Tamil Nadu’s Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, as they decide to foster an orphaned baby elephant. The short documentary chronicles how the arrival of that elephant transforms the lives of his foster parents forever.

The Elephant Whisperers will be streaming on Netflix from December 8.

Once Upon a Time in Jamaaligudda

Saregama Kannada on Wednesday released the official teaser for its upcoming film Once Upon a Time in Jamaaligudda. Written and directed by Kushal Gowda, the film stars Daali Dhananjaya, Aditi Prabhudeva, Praanya P Rao, Yash Shetty, Prakash Belawadi, Bhavana Ramanna, Mayuri Nataraj Nandagopal, Santhosh, Rushika Raj and Sathyanna. This is a bilingual film simultaneously shot in Telugu. The Telugu version is titled Once Upon A Time in Devarakonda.

In the teaser, we are introduced to a dangerous criminal, who is in prison. A flashback montage shows him as a happy family man with a wife and a kid. However, strange circumstances forced him into a life of crime. The teaser doesn’t shed much light on the plot.

Once Upon a Time in Jamaaligudda will arrive in the cinemas on December 30.
