A contemporary adaptation of the Shakespearean tragedy Romeo and Juliet, the upcoming Hoichoi series Talmar Romeo Juliet shared the first song from its soundtrack recently. A purely romantic number, it celebrates the warmth and passion of the young lovers who form the core of the tale.

Composed and rendered in the youthful, yet emotion-laden voice of Debraj Bhattacharya, the lyrics of the song Du haatey mutho bhorey have been written by Nilanjan Ghosal. It expresses a young man’s deep and sincere feelings for his loved one, who he wishes to adorn with all his love. The simplicity of the song’s lyrics and its evocative melody transport the listener into a realm of sheer beauty and innocence where love reigns supreme.

Picturised in the verdant hilly terrains of North Bengal or Sikkim, the song portrays the two lovers Rana (Debdutta Raha) and Jahanara (Hiya Roy) sharing moments of blissful togetherness. Scenes replete with lush greenery, hilltops, lakes and valleys showcase the virgin beauty of the natural surroundings and elevate the experience of the song, which is all about the excitement and joy of a young couple expressing their love for each other. Their romantic feelings, based on friendship, trust and belief in each other, is reflected in their body language, that is natural, spontaneous and uninhibited. As seen in the teaser already, the fresh pair of actors portraying the lovers also add energy and vibrance to the song, which is soothing and soulful in content.

The music video of Du haatey mutho bhorey also offers viewers important hints about the two central characters. Rana is depicted as the ubiquitous lover, head-over-heels in love with Jahanara, who is seen to be smart, confident and certainly the more dominant partner of the duo. She is bubbly and cheerful compared to Rana, who is initially hesitant to express his feelings for her.

Unlike the teaser which presented a gaudy and glittering colour palette, Du haatey mutho bhorey offers a softer perspective that suitably mirrors the pure emotions felt by the young lovers. The song, however, leaves no clue on how their love story will end in tragedy. Talmar Romeo Juliet, also starring Anirban Bhattacharya in a pivotal role, will premiere on Hoichoi in November.
