Vikrant Massey and Raashii Khanna play fearless journalists on a mission to unravel the truth behind the 2002 train-burning incident in Gujarat’s Godhra in The Sabarmati Report teaser, dropped by the makers on Friday.

The one-minute-51-second-long teaser kicks off with a thrilling court scene, where Vikrant’s journalist Shraban Kumar is put on trial and is charged with a fine of Rs 2 crore. Subsequent scenes showcase rioters charging towards the Sabarmati Express as it makes its way towards the Godhra railway station in Gujarat.

Vikrant plays an angry journalist who accuses the mainstream media of “downplaying” the incident. After running from pillar to post to uncover the truth behind the incident, Vikrant finally comes across another journalist, played by Raashii, who teams up with him for the investigation.

A teaser dropped by the makers earlier this year also features Jawan actress Ridhi Dogra. The video takes us to the on-field media coverage following the burning of Sabarmati Express on the morning of February 27, 2002. The incident had reportedly led to the death of 59 passengers.

Originally scheduled to hit theatres on May 3, the film’s release was delayed as the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had reportedly raised objections to certain scenes. Further, director Ranjan Chandel had decided to step back from the project following creative differences with the makers.

The film is now helmed by Dheeraj Sarna.

The Sabarmati Report is slated to hit theatres on November 15. The film is jointly produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan and Anshul Mohan.
