From four new episodes of coming-of-age drama Naruto to the highly-anticipated sequel to martial arts series Kengan Ashura, anime-streaming platforms have a fresh lineup of shows in September. Here's a look.
The Road of Naruto
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Naruto makers will release a new and reanimated four-episode series — The Road of Naruto — on September 3. The original anime, which is an adaptation of Masashi Kishimoto’s manga of the same name, follows the story of Naruto Uzumaki, a young boy who dreams of becoming the strongest ninja and the leader of his Hidden Leaf village, known as the Hokage. The new episodes will be a reanimation of important arcs from Naruto (2002) and its sequel Naruto Shippuden (2007). However, the streaming platform for the episodes has not been announced yet.

Gamera- Rebirth
Gamera is a giant fire-breathing turtle-like creature that belongs to a group of Japanese monsters known as kaiju — enormous, often destructive creatures. Produced by Kadokawa Corporation, Gamera- Rebirth is set in Tokyo after the city gets destroyed by deadly monsters called Gyaos. As the only survivors, sixth graders Joe, Junichi and Boko become the monsters' target, a surprise appearance is made by a kaiju named Gamera. Yet, rather than attacking them, the colossal monster engages in battles to shield them from any danger.

Kengan Ashura (Season 2)
The thrilling showcase of gladiator battles and martial arts will continue in the sequel to Kengan Ashura part one. The story revolves around Ohma Tokita who enters a hidden world in which corporate disputes are settled with brutal gladiator fights. However, Tokita doesn’t have his eye on prize money; he only wants to fight and win. The upcoming season will focus on other competitors and why they want to battle it out in the gladiator arena. It will also delve into the motivations of the sponsors and the political and economic outcomes of the deadly fights.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End takes us to a world ruled by demon kings. It follows elf-mage Frieren and her allies — hero Himmel, priest Heiter and warrior Eisen — as they vanquish the king of demons following a decade-long mission, ushering in an era of peace. As they prepare to part ways, the four companions reflect on their odyssey. However, the passing of time is different for elves, thus Frieren witnesses her companions slowly pass away one by one. Filled with regret, she begins a new quest — to establish meaningful connections with people, meeting them and experiencing a multitude of events on the way.

A Girl & Her Guard Dog
Created by animation studio Project No. 9, the story centres on Isaku, a girl who experienced the loss of her parents at a young age. She has been under the care of her grandfather, who was once involved with the Yakuza. Throughout her childhood Isaku has suffered from isolation because of her grandfather's reputation. However, when an opportunity for a regular life arises, her loyal family servant and dedicated guardian, 26-year-old Keiya, enters high school alongside her and disrupts her plans instead of protecting her.
