R Madhavan, Babil Khan, Kay Kay Menon and Divyenndu’s real-life superheroes risk their own lives to save thousands during the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy in the official trailer of Netflix and Yash Raj Film’s four-episode series The Railway Men.

Dropped on Monday, the two-minute-52-second-long trailer highlights the bravery and determination of four Indian Railways workers who put their lives on the line in the course of a fateful night that would witness the world’s largest industrial catastrophe.

The trailer begins with scenes just before a fatal gas leak at a Bhopal chemical factory and then introduces Madhavan’s Rati Pandey and his team of Railway employees. Things soon take a horrific turn, testing their resolve and sense of duty amidst mortal danger.

In order to save Bhopal from turning into a “graveyard”, the four Indian Railways workers set up a plan to evacuate as many as they can from the city through trains. Juhi Chawla also makes a brief appearance in the trailer in an unspecified role.

The Bhopal gas tragedy took place on December 2 and 3 in 1984 when a gas leak at the city’s Union Carbide India Limited pesticide plant exposed over 500,000 people to extremely toxic methyl isocyanate.

Directed by Shiv Rawail, the thriller series is slated to release on Netflix on November 18.
