Indian actor Ishaan Khatter makes a cameo appearance in the trailer of Nicole Kidman-led murder mystery series The Perfect Couple, dropped by streaming platform Netflix on Thursday.
Set to Frankie Valli’s 1967 track Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, the two-minute-10-second-long trailer begins with Kidman’s Greer Garrison Winbury and Liev Schreiber’s Tag Winbury as the heads of a seemingly perfect family. According to the official synopsis on Netflix, Greer Winbury is a famous novelist who has spared no expense in planning her son Benji Winbury’s (Billy Howle) wedding.
The following clips show Benji’s fiancée, Amelia Sacks (Eve Hewson), arriving to stay with them before the ceremony. However, the Winbury family seems to be harbouring secrets that one would not want to uncover.
“The key to this family is just to stay on the periphery,” Abby Winbury (Dakota Fanning), Benji’s sister, tells Amelia.
The ‘premiere wedding of the year’ is upended when a body is found on the beach before Benji and Amelia’s nuptials. The person appears to have died accidentally by drowning. However, the authorities find the circumstances of the death suspicious, prompting a real-life investigation that feels plucked from the pages of one of Greer’s novels. Suddenly, everyone is a suspect.
Khatter makes a cameo appearance, showcasing his chiselled physique as he turns around shirtless while showering.
The 28-year-old actor shared the trailer on Instagram prompting reactions from Armaan Malik, Soni Razdan and Zoya Akhtar. “Woohoo! Looks so good,” wrote the latter in the comment section of the post.
“Just a tease. Sept 5th, mark the date,” read Khatter’s caption to the video.
Susanne Bier of Bird Box fame serves as director and executive producer for The Perfect Couple. The new limited series is slated to hit Netflix on September 5.
