Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s acclaimed work, Anuradha, is the new story in the series Sahityer Shera Somoy on Aakash Aath. Anuradha tells the story of an unmarried woman from a wealthy family who witnesses indefinite challenges yet she remains strong-willed. Instead of succumbing to her circumstances, she confronts them head-on. When her family’s estate is transferred to a new landlord, Vijay, his son, plans to evict Anuradha. However, Anuradha’s affection towards his only son, Kumar, makes Vijay gradually fall in love with her despite his intention to marry Anita, an erudite lady from the city. The story explores the complexities of love, loyalty and family ties.

“In Sahityer Shera Somoy we are adapting timeless classics from Bengali literature for today’s audience. The recently launched story in the series is Anuradha. It is the fifth story in this popular show which will explore the diverse shades of life and love and will showcase a woman’s iron will to overcome all the impediments for the sake of a child. In Anuradha, Pritha Chanda essays the title role. Aditya Bakshi plays Vijay, Safalya Debnath is seen as Kumar, Falguni Chatterjee as Amar Chatterjee, Jina Tarafder as Anita, Plaban Basu as Gagan, Prabha as Tanusree Bhattacharya and Sayantan Halder as Ajay.

Anuradha, directed by Suman Roy, airs Monday to Saturday, at 7.30pm on Aakash Aath.
