The new Zee Bangla show Mittir Bari, produced by NIDEAS Creations And Productions, promises to take the audience on a captivating journey that delves deep into the backdrop of Bengal’s rich cultural heritage. This tale explores the importance of preserving family bonds, generational connections and the enduring legacy of one’s roots.

Mittir Bari is centred on Jonaki, played by Parijat Chaudhuri, a lively and compassionate young woman, whose journey to uncover the truth behind her mother’s wrongful imprisonment leads her to Mittir Bari, a once-grand ancestral home on the verge of collapse. There, she encounters Dhrubo, portrayed by Adrit Roy, a lawyer and ardent truth-seeker, whose values clash with Jonaki’s tendency for “white lies”. Despite their differences, they join forces to save the crumbling house of Dhrubo from being sold by its current owners, who are eager to sever ties with their heritage for financial gain. Mittir Bari also features acclaimed actors like Dulal Lahiri, Anuradha Roy, Shankar Chakraborty, Manasi Sinha, Sonali Chowdhury, and Ananya Banerjee.

Mittir Bari is a story that delves into the heart of family, heritage, and the resilience of the human spirit. As a producer, I am deeply passionate about bringing narratives that are rooted in culture and emotional depth to the screen. This show explores timeless themes of love, sacrifice, and truth, while also highlighting the generational connections that shape who we are. It has been a wonderful experience working with such a talented team to bring this beautiful story to life, and I hope it resonates with viewers as much as it has with us,” said Prosenjit Chatterjee, producer, NIDEAS Creations and Productions.

“At the heart of Mittir Bari is the cultural narrative of family loyalty, heritage and the connections that bind generations. The story focuses on the beauty and struggles of holding onto one’s roots amidst rapid societal changes. It will employ a mix of intimate, character-focused scenes and sweeping shots of the crumbling Mittir House to symbolize the contrast between decay and hope. The visual style will enhance emotional depth, with rich, warm tones for moments of connection and cooler, darker hues for scenes of conflict and tension,” said Samrat Ghosh, chief cluster officer — east, north and premium cluster, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd.

Mittir Bari is a story about family, the strong bonds of a joint family, and the importance of returning to one’s roots. The show blends emotional moments with light-hearted ones, creating a mix of feelings that will touch the heart. At the centre of the story is the old Mittir House, which has seen better days. It reflects the fading ties of the family, but Jonaki’s efforts to bring it back to life show hope and determination. Her journey is not just about fixing the house but also about bringing the members of Mittir family closer together. The show captures the ups and downs of relationships, the joy of togetherness, and the importance of staying connected to where we come from. It’s a heartfelt story that will leave viewers with a sense of warmth and belonging,” said Navnita Chakraborty, business head, Zee Bangla.

Directed by Sujit Pyne, Mittir Bari airs Monday to Saturday at 9pm, on Zee Bangla.
