The new Star Jalsha show Grihaprabesh unravels the inspiring journey of Subhalakshmi, a suburban girl, who transitions from a humble life in Nadia to starting afresh and becoming the backbone of a prominent joint family in New York. Grihaprabesh presents the story of a middle-class girl and how she embarks on a journey from Nadia to New York and sets up a life overseas.

The Roy family, a pillar of the Bengali community in the US for 50 years, runs a flourishing chain of departmental stores. Deeply devoted to goddess Jagaddhatri, they decide to celebrate their 50th year in the US by paying homage to the goddess. Subhalakshmi, the daughter of a priest from Nadia, travels to New York for this mission. She faces various challenges that come her way in this new country with her presence of mind, sense of responsibility and extraordinary skill of making spices.

As Subhalakshmi’s dedication begins to shine, her journey takes a dramatic turn. She marries Aadrit, the charismatic and successful heir to the Roy family. However, her path is far from easy. Aadrit’s mother, Sebanti challenges her at every step. Subhalakshmi confronts prejudice and hostility while navigating her role as Sebanti’s daughter-in-law and Aadrit’s wife.

The show captures Subhalakshmi’s battles, triumphs, and eventual transformation into the backbone of the family, and how she uses her skill of making handmade authentic Indian spices in a foreign soil. Ushasi Ray takes on the role of Subhalakshmi. Suushmiit Mukherjee portrays the role of Aadrit, while Bidipta Chakraborty plays the role of Aadrit’s mother Sebanti.

The show, produced by Raj Chakraborty Productions, airs every day at 8.30pm on Star Jalsha.
