Arpan Ghoshal, Swikriti Majumder, Joyjit Banerjee, Jeet Sundor and Ratasree Dutta star in the new KLIKK series Raja Rani Romeo, a melting pot of love, betrayal and revenge. The story follows Imran Mondol (Arpan Ghoshal), who has been leading a quiet and peaceful life in the small town of Fulbari, using the alias of Mithun Das. He had fled his village to avoid persecution and has been living on scraps ever since. But as soon as Imran felt that he had found that eluding stability in life, a phone left behind by a customer in the dhaba he works at, changes everything. The woman (Swikriti Majumder) who comes to collect the phone the next day, sweeps Imran off his feet. Soon enough, that one primary meeting, leads to another.

As the narrative progresses it is learnt that the woman, Gayatri is the wife of Bishnu Adhikary (Joyjit Banerjee), the dreaded ‘godfather’ of Paharganj, a town adjacent to Fulbari. Guddu (Jeet Sundor), Imran’s only friend in the town, warns Imran about it, but Imran is deeply in love. Gayatri narrates her tale of woe to a lovelorn Imran... of the abuse she has been suffering at the hands of Bishnu and asks him to kidnap her and blackmail her treacherous husband. The plan was to flee with the ransom money and settle down together, somewhere far away from the clutches of the goon.
According to her plan, Gayatri is tied up in an abandoned fort and Imran is on his way to collect the ransom demanded from Bishnu. A twist in the tale reveals that instead of money, plain-clothed policemen are waiting to entrap him.

Raja Rani Romeo, my fourth project with KLIKK, is essentially a romantic thriller. The story of Raja Rani Romeo was brewing for almost six years, though it took us a lot of drafts to get the script right. My inspiration for the series comes from the pulpy thrillers of Bengali literature as well as Indian cinema. The characters are complex, grey and layered, and the actors have done a brilliant job bringing them to life. A special mention to the cinematography in exotic outdoor locations by Anir and music by Pranjal, which stirs the desired measures of flavour and soul of the series,” said director Joydip Banerjee.

Raja Rani Romeo has a lot of depth and plays with human psychology. We shot in beautiful, mesmerising locations which were difficult due to climatic conditions at that point, but things went smoothly due to a strong team bonding. This is the second time that audiences will see Arpan and myself as a pair on-screen! They had loved us before as a pair and were eagerly waiting for us to come together again. I am sure it’s going to be a wonderful surprise for our audience. There’s an inherent comfort level working with Arpan and one can feel the pulse immaculately. He’s such a talented co-actor and there’s always something good to learn and imbibe from him.
This is my first time working with our director Joydip Banerjee. He’s an extremely patient director and allows a wide berth to his actors. Brilliantly holding the whole team together, making everyone comfortable in whatever they are doing. He has impeccable clarity and vision in his character sketches. It was extremely nice working with him and I hope we get to work together again. He’s crafted a brilliant script and I am glad to be a part of a project like this,” said Swikriti.

“It was such a joyful experience, all thanks to Joydip, the fantastic team, and, of course, my wonderful co-actors. A special shout-out to our beautiful heroine Swikriti... meeting her again after Meyebela was something I eagerly looked forward to, and added an extra layer of joy to the whole experience. The weather did play a spoilsport initially. But, despite adverse weather, the resilience of the producer, director, and the entire team was evident. Overcoming a two-day setback due to heavy rain showcased remarkable teamwork and determination. Raja Rani Romeo will forever stay in my memory for the collective creative effort and unwavering commitment displayed by the entire team and I am quite sure that our efforts will engage the audience,” said Arpan.

“This has been one of our most challenging series in an outdoor setting. Despite several adverse climatic conditions, the team has delivered a great series, toiling long and hard for it. We have been increasing the ambit, scope and scale of our productions this year, experimenting across geographies beyond Bengal, and are happy to see good results coming from it. Audiences now happily look forward to a change in storytelling formats and presentation. The first-time pairing of popular small screen couple Arpan and Swikriti in a web series, along with Joyjit has ensured a stellar series,” said Niraj Tantiya, director, KLIKK.
