Ezra Miller-starrer The Flash emerged as the sixth highest-grossing Hollywood movie to release in India in 2023, collecting a respectable Rs 4.15 crore nett on Day 1 at the Indian box office, as per trade reports.
The top five Hollywood openers in India so far are Vin Diesel-starrer Fast X (Rs 12.5 crore nett), Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (Rs 8.50 crore nett), Chris Pratt’s Guardians Of The Galaxy: Volume 3 (Rs 6.75 crore nett), Keanu Reeves-starrer John Wick: Chapter 4 (Rs 6.50 crore nett) and Sony Pictures’ animated film Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse (Rs 4.20 crore nett).
The Flash beat the opening day collection of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (Rs 4 crore nett) by a whisker. Trade analysts predict that the DC film is likely to witness a drop in collections on Day 2 owing to the stiff competition from Prabhas and Kriti Sanon-starrer Adipurush.
According to estimates by US entertainment magazine Deadline, The Flash is likely to collect USD 155-165 million worldwide in its opening weekend, out of which the North American box office will contribute USD 70 million.
Directed by Andrés Muschietti, the superhero fantasy adventure saga revolves around Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) aka Flash who utilises his superpowers to time-travel into the past and modify its course, leading to the collision of various dimensions. The Flash also features Michael Keaton, Michael Shannon, Sasha Calle, Kiersey Clemons and Ben Affleck in key roles.
