The upcoming movie Shastri — starring Mithun Chakraborty, Debasree Roy, Soham, Sauraseni Maitra, Anirban Chakraborty, Rajatava Dutta — is all set to hit the theatres this Durga Puja. Directed by Pathikrit Basu, Shastri is produced by Soham's Entertainment & Creative Solutions and Surinder Films. Shastri follows Porimol, a man from a humble background, who slogs in a factory to earn a simple livelihood for himself and his family. But despite his many difficulties, he can't stop buying lottery tickets and going to astrologers in the hope that one day his luck will turn.

"Shastri is a very special film in my career. As a producer, getting Mithun Chakraborty to play the title role is a dream come true. With Debasree Roy joining the cast, we will be presenting the superhit pair once again. Apart from Mithunda and Debasreedi, other fine actors will be seen essaying prominent characters in the movie. Shastri is not just a movie but a symphony of emotions that will impress the audience across all age groups," said Soham.

"Shastri is a socio-fantasy drama film that uses our protagonist Porimal Sanyal's turbulent life journey to illuminate the long-running debate between astrology and astronomy.
