After the success of Raktabeej, Abir Chatterjee and Mimi Chakraborty have paired up once again for Premendu Bikash Chaki’s romcom Alaap. The film also stars Swastika Dutta, Debopriyo Mukherjee, Tonni Laha Roy, Kinjal Nanda. Alaap revolves around three protagonists — Pablo Majumdar (Abir Chatterjee), Aditi Mitra (Mimi Chakraborty) and Swatilekha Sen (Swastika Dutta) who work in different IT companies. They cross each other’s paths in the professional sphere where a series of events unfolds.

“Abirda is like my family. We know each other for a long time since I started my career. We share a great rapport with each other. I can discuss anything and everything with Abirda,” said Mimi Chakraborty.

“This is an interesting old-school romantic story. Chakida is an underrated director and the way he tells a story is unique. Pablo works in a IT company and has a quite well settled career. He is a confident guy but quite an introvert. How my character meets Mimi’s character is all what the story is about,” said Abir.

Premendu Bikash Chaki, whose last release was Love Marriage, said: “The film deals with intricacies of relationships, commitment issues in a relationship through a romantic comedy. The film shows ‘bhalolaga’ and ‘bhalobasha’ are two different things.”

“Being part of Alaap was a wonderful experience. I am extremely grateful to Chakida for giving me Monon, and furthermore, guiding me to bring him alive on screen. He ensured that there was always a happy atmosphere on sets while also remaining particular about the performances he required from us. I don’t think the audience has ever seen me in a character like this one ever before. The cherry on top was the opportunity to form a camaraderie with Abirda. Pablo, his character, and Monon are the best of friends and Abirda ensured that that vibe came off as genuine on screen. Being privy to his process, seeing how grounded and disciplined he is and his approach as an actor were all things I learnt from,” said Debopriyo.
