Ankush and Priyanka Sarkar star in the new film Kurban, which speaks about how people fall prey to situations and sail through the ebbs and flows of life. Set against the backdrop of a village in West Bengal, the film sees the character of Hasan stand out as an emotionally sensitive individual. At first glance, Hasan appears content, but his distinct virtues and values shape his character, making him different. He holds the belief that catching fish with a fishing rod amounts to treachery and disloyalty, as it involves inviting them for food only to end their lives without even a fighting chance. Hasan believes in a language where love serves as the ultimate religion, transcending all else.

"Ankush's sensitive eyes attracted me the most when I was thinking of Hasan. I'd envisioned a gentle, contemplative soul with shaggy hair and a beard, and Ankush met my vision perfectly. Similarly, I found Hizal in Priyanka. A beautiful, young, dynamic, vivacious Muslim bride from the village who can speak for herself and who has dreams of her own. Fortunately, after hearing the story, they both agreed to work on this project. During the shoot of Kurban, the actors became unified in their character personas, and that involvement has been greatly enriching for me personally. And I strongly believe that it will definitely reflect on the screen as well. Apart from the leads, working with accomplished actors like Shantilal Mukherjee, Kanchan Mallick, Buddhadev Bhattacharya, Subhadra Mukherjee and every other actor was a beautiful experience for me and my team," said director Saibal Mukherjee.

"Hasan is a very intense character and has made me think a lot. I was emotionally connected with the character... Hasan had a huge effect on me. It has been one of the most challenging characters I have ever portrayed," said Ankush.

"I’m especially in awe of how each character's arc has been written with their own unique psychological motivations and how their actions add up to create a humane story. My character Hijol has a very real feel. A simple, young homemaker from the village who loves her husband and child. On the one hand, she deals with her day-to-day crises; on the other, she never holds back when it comes to speaking her mind. As a woman, I can relate to that," said Priyanka.
