Ryan Gosling’s stuntman comes up with high-octane stunts in real life as he embarks on a journey to find a missing actor and untangle the web of a conspiracy in the second trailer of David Leitch’s The Fall Guy.

Dropped by the makers on Wednesday, the three-minute-one-second-long trailer begins with Gosling’s Colt Seavers shooting for a scene in a movie directed by his ex-girlfriend Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt). However, we soon get to know that Seavers is only a stuntman who goes unrecognised for his powerful and risky action scenes. Everything goes according to plan — Seavers tries to win back Jody with his stunts, pick-up lines and charm — until he agrees to search for the missing hero of the movie, Tom Ryder, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

As the mystery surrounding Tom’s missing case unfolds, we get to know that he was involved with criminals. “I’m just a stunt guy,” Seavers bursts out as a woman attacks him with a sword while he was looking for Tom in his house. There are several moments in the video where Seavers struggles to keep up with the fast-paced action in real life as compared to in movies in which he would pull them off with ease.

Filled with dynamic scenes and humour, the trailer promises a perfect blend of action, drama and comedy in the film, which also stars Hannah Waddingham, Winston Duke and Stephanie Hsu.

Touted as “a new hilarious, hard-driving, all-star apex-action thriller”, The Fall Guy is a “love letter to action movies and the hard-working and under-appreciated crew of people who make them”.

Directed by Bullet Train helmer David Leitch, The Fall Guy is inspired by the classic 1980s series of the same name, which starred Lee Majors in the lead role. Majors is also going to make an appearance in the movie.

Penned by Hobbs & Shaw screenwriter Drew Pearce, The Fall Guy is produced by Kelly McCormick, Ryan Gosling and Guymon Casady for Entertainment 360. It will arrive in theatres on May 3.
